LEAD REMOVAL

LEAD REMOVAL

Due to harmful side effects, lead paint has been banned since the 1980s. It was used widely during the past 100 years in residential and commercial buildings.

Lead contamination may exist in building structures in various forms from:

  • lead solder in domestic water pipes
  • lead dust and fumes generated during manufacturing process
  • paint coatings on various building materials.

In order to protect workers and the public during renovation projects, OSHA developed the Lead in Construction Standard (29 CFR 1926.62) which requires employers, contractors, and building owner’s to provide and implement safe work practices & procedures to prevent exposure of lead during renovation and demolition activities.

If you suspect that there is lead paint, dust or fumes in your commercial, institutional or industrial facility contact Dec-Tam. Our Project Managers will:

  • assist in implementing environmental controls
  • construct the proper containment for abatement
  • remediate and decontaminate the affected areas
  • dispose of the waste properly.

The project details vary on a case by case basis and will dictate the approach, and decontamination techniques to be implemented at the site. On past projects Dec-Tam has used:

  • abrasive blasting
  • chemical solvents
  • mechanical methods
  • surface cleaning activities

to decontaminate the affected areas.

Dec-Tam is a Lead Safe Certified Firm and complies with all OSHA regulations while performing lead paint or surface dust decontamination projects.
